Solved! Selling Laptops / Removing The Hard Drive - is it safe to do so?

Hello,

I was wondering if it was safe by removing the one and only hard drive from a laptop and then selling the laptop without the hard drive? By safe I mean, will my photo's data etc no longer be on the laptop?

I have a few laptop's that don't turn on but they are worth something in part's. Since i can't turn them on, they're of no use to me, but i have sentimental things from photo's videos to data that maybe i can access again one day by keeping my hard drives?

Any helpful advise would be greatly appreciated.

If you take out the drive, you take the files out with it. You can access the files now if you want, not "one day", just get an external USB enclosure and copy the files out.

Yes it is safe. There is nothing else that can really store your files. But you could also format the drive and data shouldnt be too easy to recover.
