Set a Tablet Default App Installation Location to SD Card

Can I Set the Default App Installation Location to SD Card?

Yes!! It is quite possible.
Although android OS does not have any built-in feature that automatically sets the default installation location of the apps to the external SD card that has been mounted on the device, there are several third-party tools that can help you in this context.

You may want to set the default app installation location to an external SD card in order to save the internal memory storage so that the device can function properly, and you can have a smooth user experience. This is because, if all the apps or games are stored on the default location, i.e. on the internal storage, the overall performance of the device may reduce by the time when it becomes overpopulated with the installed apps.

To make this happen, you can use ROM Toolbox Pro (RTP) which is a paid app and is available on Google Play Store. Using this app, you can manage your entire device including setting the default app installation location to the external SD card. However, in order to use RTP, the device must be unlocked or rooted.

Once you root your device and install RTP on it, it is very easy and straightforward to set the default app installation location to the external SD card. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. ■Tap the app drawer icon from the home screen.
■From the displayed list, tap the ROM Toolbox Pro icon to initiate the app.

■Back on the main interface of the app, tap the back button multiple times to get out of the interface.

Note: The only drawback of setting the default app installation location to the external SD card is you must always use the SD card while using the app that you have moved to it. In case you unmount or remove the SD card from the device, all the moved apps or games would stop working, and will only start working again when the SD card is inserted back and mounted on the external memory card slot.

Note: ROM Toolbox Pro (RTP) does not only set the default app installation location to the SD card but it also helps in optimizing the entire android device so that it can provide improved performance, and you can have an excellent user experience.
