Ok So Im thinking about upgrading laptop yet again this would be the 3rd in past month .

I went from a i5 6300 with 965m , sold it made a couple bucks .

now I have a i 7 6700 with 970m for price I got it I can sell and make a couple bucks off this as well . I could also just return it for full refund .

Im thinking I messed up and should of just got the i7 6820k with the 980m
I only want 15" laptop because i think bigger is a waste when you can just plug in a monitor which is better then lugging a giant beast of laptop .

I do have a desktop with a very nice setup which just needs a gpu upgrade , Im waiting on new direct x 12 cards to hit market . I have 3 27" monitors eyefinity setup . is it a waste to have such a powerful laptop when i have a good home rig ? I dont really use laptop often , so I want something that will be good for a few years .

My last latop ASUS Laptop K72 Series K72JR-X1 Intel Core i5 430M (2.26 GHz) 4 GB Memory 500 GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 17.3 Was still running great until my kids knocked it over broke screen and part of case . I figured after 7 years i was do a upgrade.

My other question is should I just wait for the direct x 12 laptops to start coming ? I am the worst with buyers remorse I make my wife nuts . It only cost me 945 bucks for current alienware. I will also say Im not a alienware fan , I prefer Asus but for price Id be nuts to pass on it .

If you want a fast laptop, you should have 16GB ram and a MUST have is an SSD. The SSD will make the system feel much faster than almost any other part of the system compared to a HDD.

I have a 500gb Evo 850 in it right now . SSDs have been a must since I put my first one in my desktop 5 years ago . I know the card will work with direct x 12 but as its been said everywhere it will not use all the features available from x12.

I was talking with my Dell rep today and I can get the i7 6700hq with 980m for like 1300 or 1700 for i7 6820k with 980 32 gb ram 256 ssd + 1tb HDD for 1700 .

Its crappy that you have to add on all hat other stuff to get the 6820k .... not worth price tag . Im not even sure the add price for 980 is worth it .
