sim card insertion

I received my new galaxy S 4 and it appears to already have a sim card inserted even though I was sent a new card.

Some providers do this. I have seen some come with a card from the provider and one was already installed in the phone.

Try the one they gave you and see if it works. Worst case you can call them up to get to the bottom of it.
