Skype HOG

I have used skype for many years, recently ive noticed it using a crap load of recourses that it does not want to release. i just closed skype due to it using 514MB of ram and over 1400 handles... why in the hell does skype need so many system recourses? what changed in its programing to make it use more than aim, msn, trillian, yahoo, or any other messenger ive ever seen by 5-30 fold?

I use the portable version,it uses less resources!
