Question Smart TV - audio/video hook-up

If I connect my smart TV output to my audio/video receiver will there be a problem because both have signal decoding - Dolby, DTS etc? Would the double decoding be a problem

How will you be connecting them and why go from TV to receiver? Normally for a receiver you connect the source to that for processing and to use with the speakers, then connect the video pass-through to the TV for video.

My wife and I are 70+ and are having trouble understanding TV dialog lately. I have tried to tweak my Onkyo receiver but only get slight improvement since it doesn't have a dialog enhancing feature. My Samsung TV has a feature called "clear voice" and I would like to be able to get that enhancement while still using my receiver to feed my surround sound speakers.
