Sony BD Player only shows settings menu on Samsung Smart TV

We have a rarely-used Sony Blu Ray player purchased November 2015. (Sony Bdps1200 Wired Streaming Blu-ray Disc Player, Full Hd 1080p Blu-ray Disc Playback)

We tried connecting it to our new Samsung Smart TV. It auto detects on HDMI 2, but it only shows the Sony BD settings menu. It will not show the main movie menu no matter which disc is tried.

Maybe it's brand new (meaning u never actually used it) and it's asking for some initial configuration? Like hey, what language do you want to communicate with etc. Why not go through the options and hit SAVE to tell it, hey I already answered all your questions, now will you play?
