Sony bravia won't play sound through HDMI on Toshiba laptop

the picture is great but when I hook my Toshiba laptop to my Sony Bravia TV with the HDMI chord I get no sound through the television, only on the laptop. how do I get sound on the TV?

Follow these steps on your computer:

Click start button in lower left corner>Control panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound>Under the playback tab left click your TV and enable it, and make sure its the default device (has to have the green checkmark)
