Hints?
You're darn right you're compensating the customers! After such an epic fail is safeguarding the data, nothing less than that would do.

At least until hackers move onto Xbox Live, Steam or whatever they deem a good target to steal info from. Realistically nothing is 100% safe, nothing is 100% secure.

I love my PS3 but due to only having horrible satellite internet available at my house I'm only only the network for updates and downloads..no gameplay possible.

Hopefully this is a legit hacking attempt and not a sneaky NGE update for the network cause by SOE.

Now that they've determined the attack came from the internet, they'll be sending out a patch to remove internet capabilities from all PS3's.

Could the downtime have happened because of the new firmware with the 'REBUG' feature? With Sony pulling the plug?

If they give compensation to anyone they have to give it to everyone, otherwise you lodge a suit for unfair treatment. Even if damages ran to just $100 each, with 70 million users affected it could cost $7 billion.

That's not chump change to anyone.

Add legal fees and see that cost rise, so..........

Class action lawsuit anyone?
