Hello,

I have a Sony that first gave the dreaded green screen with text and would not boot. Now I get the message "The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum" Is there a fix for this?

This problem can arise if a damaged file exists in the folder in which Windows is installed. If the corrupt file isnt overwritten/corrected during boot then you will get the error everytime you startup. You can try booting in safe mode and then restoring your os to an earlier date or try a reinstall over your existing os. Also if you have a recovery disk it may be able to repair the existing problem file(s). Just one more thing - have you replaced or added any new memory to your machine? This can sometimes cause such faults.

No, I haven't installed any memory. I tried to get to safe mode, I press and hold F8, but it always goes to the error. When you buy these laptops now, you don't receive any disks with the software on them. I didn't burn a recovery disk for it.

Thanks,

Mark
