Solved! Sony Soundbar HT- S100F to Sony Bravia no soun

I have a Sony Sound bar HT- S100F connected to a Sony Bravia KDL -40 S4100 TV. TV does not have HDMI Arc. Have sound bar and TV connected using a HDMI cable and a optical cable. Optical cable lights up red on both ends. Have speakers "off" on television. There is no sound from sound bar. There is no way to switch to optical or other sound setting on the TV menu. There is only the ability to turn speakers on or off on the menu.

Tested sound bar and it works fine via Bluetooth.
The HDMI cable is new and I believe a 2.O or higher rating.

A fire stick is in one of the HDMI ports on the tv. I have the sound bar hdmi in another. The TV is I believe 2008 or 2009, so I am guessing that it is the source of the problem, but the optical port lights up ,so I wondering what the heck I am missing. Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Why are you connecting the TV with both HDMI and the optical cable? Just use the optical cable.
