sony surround sound

Hi, I have a Sony surround sound system which i recently inherited. It's only about 4-5 years old. It has only 1 hdmi output and nothing else. I've connected this to my tv via arc hdmi socket available and i have my ps4 plugged into another hdmi port on the tv also. The surround sound will not pick up the ps4 and i have no idea what else to do get this to work. I don't understand why Sony would make something so limited with only one output on the surround sound. Basically the surround sound only works with its own dvd player. Any other device plugged into the tv does not get surround sound. What am i missing here. This seems ridiculous. Please please can someone help... I'm lost. Just cannot work out a solution.

The problem is Sony surround sound system--->TV<-----ps4 ie sony connected to tv with the help of HDMI and ps4 to the tv and the tv will not give any output from through HDMI so look for RCA port or optical port on your tv and connect it to the surround sound system you will get input on your surround sound system

Thanks for your response. That's the problem there is no rca on the surround sound. See diagrams for sony hbd tz230 on google images. There is a hdmi port and a scart socket nothing else. Very strange.
