Hey. I just recently built me another computer, but have noticed a problem with Sony Vegas 13. For whatever reason, it renders much slower than my other computer, despite having better parts overall than my previous computer. Any help would be appreciated.
While the 7970 isn't the "top tier" of GPUs, the ones that are better are really expensive. Your build should have at least comparable results as to your previous build. BTW - did you check to ensure that Windows was utilizing 100% of the RAM? (right click my computer, go to properties - it should have a "System" section, and Installed memory (RAM): - with mine it has 16.0GB (15.9 GB usable). If for some reason the full amount of RAM isn't being used...that could be another "bottleneck".
There should be something in the BIOS that allows you to select "onboard graphics" (it could say "Intel HD4XXX Graphics") or PCI/PCIe. This is the primary processor for graphics....and if the intel graphics is set, it is going to be a lot slower as compared to your GPU.
I didn't see that option in the BIOs anywhere, even in the advanced settings. I'm pretty sure my GPU is the primary one set tho. I just don't get how an older computer can render a 10 minute video in 5 minutes on my old computer, but 12 on the new one. It doesn't make sense.
On page 3-26 of your manual, it explains how to set the GPU.
On the advanced tab of the BIOS, there is a graphics configuration.
I appreciate the help with this situation. I'm going to go find the manual and check that out. I was doing a little research into myself and did find that apparently the 7970s and other like that just don't do that well with Vegas from what I have read. I'm going to go give what you recommended a shot and hope it works. I do greatly appreciate your help with this. I was having a bit of trouble looking online for solutions.
