Sort of a virus in Skype

Hi Everybody,

A few days ago I noticed that I have many notifications on Skype and when I checked them I saw that I "sent" to pretty much all of my contact list a link to some page on Buidu.com. A few questions (please answer according to the questions's number... It'll help me a lot).

1. How do I know if and what else was compromised to this malware?
1.1. Someone told me that she has a friend that also sent it to her a couple of weeks ago and apparently it only attacks Skype. Is that true?

2. I ran MalwareBytes anti malware and it came out clean. What else should I do?
2.1. I changed my Skype password.

3. What can the cause be for that? I don't remember entering a suspicious site or downloading something shady...

4. I for sure wasn't using the computer at the time of the incident. It was sleeping... How was it able to do it?

5. I actually heard my computer several times "waking up" in the middle of the night / early morning and then going back o sleep after a few seconds or minutes... What does that mean?

I teach through Skype so among the recipients were also all my students to which I had to appologize... Not very pleasant.

Though not everything there is correct. I guess they can connect to your Skype account without your password, since I also changed mine and it didn't help. Enable two-step verification from Microsoft (https/support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12408/microsoft-account-about-two-step-verification) and you should be fine. I do think it is some form of malware. Why? Because my Skype keeps going offline or telling me it is not responding, even tho' I was just using it. I also get messages that I have all these mulitudes of drivers are out of date on my new computer, which I keep up to date with every possible driver sent from the creators of HP & Windows 10. So I believe it is a virus that if you were like me, you will get caught up in fighting it every day!

Are you only getting those messages or are you also sending them? I sent that message during the night, when my PC was off, so I doubt is some kind of malware. Besides that, the connection was made from China. Most likely someone found a way to login without password or to send messages between known users (didn't send to everyone) without having to login. After I activated two-step verification from Microsoft I found one blocked login attempt originating from Russia.

Thank you all for your help. I went to my activity and could only see me own 3 last activities... How can I see further in the past activities?

If you're worried there is some sort of virus/malware, try using malwarebytes, it is probably the most recommened free Malware/Virus scanner from what I've seen.

As I mentioned in the first post, I already used MalwateBytes... Thank you anyway for your help.
