Sound cards for different people

Hi, I'm currently doing a computer project on sound cards. I'm just curious what sounds cards are best for different situations? Such as a person who only uses their computer for work, a person who uses the computer for music and movies, a person who mixes/ creates their own music, and a computer gamer, and anything in between or anything that I've missed.

1) Onboard chip is for average users.
2) Sound cards with 24 bit, Multi Channels DTS and Dolby Digitals for (music and movies) upgraders.
3) Pro sound cards for audio Mixers/Creators and audiophiles.
4) Sound Blaster Audigy with EAX technology for gamers or similar cards.

Also most office use computers do not require audio card so they fall into category 1.
