Hello, I have a Aspire 5738Z for about a year then my 'built in' speakers began to crackle if turn up to anything over a whisper, this also occured when I plugged in headphones. In an attempt to solve this problem I reinstalled the drivers and now the laptop wont recognise my speakers or headphones at all. Help!!!

so... if you plug headphones in, you hear exactly the same in the headphones as if they were Not plugged in - crackling?

if yes then your audio amp is dead and u need a new motherboard
if no then it could just be a driver issue

Yeah i heared the exact same and I tried to reinstall the drivers but it didn't help and now it doesn't recognise my speakers or headphones as being plugged in.

the only way to be 100% sure it's a driver issue is to reinstall windows

other than that, boot into Safe Mode and remove the device from Device Manager and any drivers

then boot back to windows and install the driver and see if it works

I restored my laptop back about 3 days and now I have sound back but it still crackles. I think I'm just going to leave it so that I have atleast the tiniest bit of sound.
