Sound playback problem

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and have the laptop connected to TV and stereo so I can steam music using the house speakers via HDMI and speak headphone jack. In order now for the music to play back on the house speakers I must turn the tv off. How do I fix this? On Windows 7 it worked perfectly!

Check the audio and video control panels to see if the settings have been altered.
Check the laptop makers website for Windows 10 drivers. Yours may need to be updated.
If this problem is caused by the way Windows 10 handles the audio you may need to get an HDMI audio extractor so you can operate your house speakers.
