Hi, I have a problem that whenever i play a movie with like 5.1 sound i dont get true surround in my speakers, im using spdif and it worked before in windows 7 and now i have win10 and it doesn't work anymore i have no idea what so ever how i did to get it to work in win7... when i "test" dts / dolby in playback devices it works, the light lits up as it should, but whenever i play a movie in VLC it doesn't, tho it should, coz im using a movie with DTS sound tried different kinds of movies with "true surround" but it doesn't work. and i know it should work coz i used the same movie in win7 when it did work. anyone have any idea what to do? it feels like it doesn't send the correct signal anymore..

thanks

managed to solve it

First of all, I prefer K-LITE STANDARD.
http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

You may want to see if new drivers/software exist. If you're using Realtek start here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

As of today, the correct version is R2.79 and is this big: 128412k

Fixing issue:
I forget exactly, but I believe you select SPDIF from playback devices, but also have to select the correct method from within VLC (or WMPC-HC for K-Lite).

For example, for K-Lite: http://www.codecguide.com/faq_configuration.htm

Start with: "How can I send the audio to my receiver instead of my PC speakers?"

When you launch a video you may see the link to the audio codec in your lower right (System Tray) or you can manually navigate to the correct codec link to change the settings.

I can't test this myself.

So, to summarize:
1) Playback Devices (or through audio software) set to correct Surround Sound setting (i.e. 5.1)
2) " " also set to SPDIF (assuming that's really the connection you use)
3) AUDIO CODEC used by media player properly set to decode from SPDIF
