So I'm saving up to buy a gaming PC and i found one that is in my budget. Although the one i found has a 256GB SSD but no Hard Disks. I doubt 256GB will be enough for me so i was wondering, if I get a external Hard Drive (1TB) would that be good?

People do use external drives for installing programs on, but it's not a good idea at all. You can always upgrade the drive yourself and clone the original one to that. If it's a gaming laptop there is a good chance it has space for a second drive also you can add internally. Many new laptops use M.2 drives that connect to the motherboard, leaving a drive bay free for a standard 2.5" laptop drive.
