static noise when i plug my headphones in my phone

i was watching a film on my laptop with my headphones plugged in the audio jack and when the film ended I unplugged them from my computer and into my iPhone's audio jack, they were working fine when they were plugged into my laptop but I cant hear any of the audio from my phone apart from a static noise. I've tried cleaning the lint out of my audio jack and restarting my phone and using a different set of earphones but nothing has worked

If all you get is static out of the headphone jack with several headphones, need to have it looked at and either fixed or replace the phone depending on the cost and what is broken. Assuming you don't just have the sound all the way down.
