Subwoofer to Receiver with different outputs.

I have a Denon AVR-2307CI 7.1 Receiver and a Lennox LN-7 speaker system that a friend wants me to set up. I realize that the amp is overkill for the speakers however It was all cheapo he'd like me to make it work.

The problem is the subwoofer has Speaker wire inputs and outputs and the receiver has the single coax output to sub.
Is there a way to make this work?

does the subwoofer have a power cord on it? if not, its a passive subwoofer and needs an amplifier.

That means that the receiver is set up to work with a powered sub. You could try connecting the sub to the center speaker channel, some surround sound devices can be configured to output the subwoofer signal through the center channel.
