Dear Tom's Hardware Community,

I am currently on the hunt for a laptop. My requirements are as follows:

1.) CPU: Lowest i5 to the Highest i7

2.) Matte/Anti-Glare Screen 1360x768 to 1920x1080

3.) Must be able to play at least Left 4 Dead 2 and Guildwars 2 |||GeForce GT 240 Radeon HD 4670|||<---These graphics cards or higher.

4.) Must have decent battery life if possible, if I am gaming I will most likely have it plugged in anyways so this isn't as big of an issue as it is for most people.

5.)Between 320-500 gigabytes of hard drive space (7200RPM)

6.) I don't need any special optical drive (e.g. blue-ray etc.), the basics is all

7.) Between 4-8gbs of RAM

8.) Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Bonus features (e.g. if it just so happens to come with the laptop already then great, if not it's a non-issue):

1.) Backlit Keyboard

2.) USB 3.0

3.) A decent built-in webcam

4.) Fingerprint reader or facial recognition software

5.) A drop sensor hard drive.

Maximum Budget: $1,000 May be willing to go slightly over but not by much.

Let me know if I need to be more specific somewhere.

Thanks for any and all feedback!

The Alienware m14x fits almost all of those, only issue you're going to have is price. 1000 dollars is a little low for all of the features you're looking for. The basic alienware model fits all of those but its 1099.

That sager model is nice though. And as for the HP try to steer clear of them, they have more issues then they're worth, namely due to cheap parts. That, and even the 6770 that you can upgrade to isn't all that high end for the extra 200.

I bought my mom a fairly high end DV7 and it's got no problems at all. In fact I find the build quality pretty good. But it's well above your price ceiling.

my son has an Asus that's pretty good quality too.
