Surround Sound Help

We have a Yamaha Receiver RX-V573 linked to 5 speaker surround sound and a Samsung HDTV. We have just added a HY-FAI QR6 box loaded with only Showbox and Modbro. We have not yet
loaded Kodi. We are only able to get sound thru the TV (the HDMI4 cable runs from the box to the TV). Does anyone know how to get surround with this HY-FAI box? Thanks!!!

Method 1
Connect all your sources including the new box with HDMI to the receiver. Connect the HDMI receiver out to the TV HDMI-ARC input. Turn on ARC for TV tuner to send audio to receiver.
Method 2
Connect all you sources including the new box with HDMI to the TV. Connect the optical audio out or HDMI ARC to the receiver.
Check the TV and receiver manual on details of setting this up.
Set the box to output in surround sound.
