How do I hook up surrounded sound on my vizio smart tv. Have a cable box from dish. No games hooked up or dvd. Thank you

For the highest quality audio, the general method is to use an HDMI cable to connect the cable box to AV surround sound system's input, then another HDMI cable from the surround sound output to the HDTV.

Another method is to use the digital audio output (either coax or optical) from the cable box or HDTV to the input of the surround sound.
