Question System problem

Hello. I have a question. When i shutdown my laptop the harddisk keep spinning even the screen are completely off. I have to long press the power button to turn it off completely. It does not turn in when i press the power button while the hard disk is spinning. What should i do. I cant find any solution. The laptop is 5yrs old now. Thank you

sometime windows need time to finish writing stuff to disk.
