Wait, Wait, Hold On!!!
1.) Laptops? They aren’t made to be upgraded. You can’t replace the CPU AND GPU, you would generally have to replace EVERYTHING, meaning the motherboard since all of components are generally as a single component.
1.) You can replace upgrade your memory but but as you say it’s it’s older, not sure how old but older models may only have a specific amount of ram that it can have. Some or a lot of older models will max out at 8gbs some may go up a little more 12gb’s to 16gb’s which it’s doubtful. A ram upgrade seems likely to sound great but it’s doubtful that this will make an obvious fix.
3.) Space wise you can swap out the hard drive but you also should know that doing so will be wiping out anything that’s on that drive.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Something to think about: If you don’t already know there is a reason that tablet’s, laptops (sometimes), phones, etc. are replaced more often than Desktop’s, Why? You might even be surprised, well The Tablet: Everything in a Tablet Is Attached to the Screen, if you have an old dead tablet, unscrew the main (4 main i’m sure there are more than 4 screws) there a under carriage or the back or bottom of the laptops (not too sure) but seeing that can bring a better understanding of it all and why it happens.
THE BIGGEST PART OF “WHY”, is an answer that hopefully brings a better understanding to this part, “HEAT DISPERSING or HEAT DISBURSEMENT”Heat, It doesn’t have anywhere to go, you can use a lap-pad with a built in fan in an attempt to keep it cooler but the inevitable is inevitable!
When you use your phone or tablet or the like type of devices what is the one commonality? HEAT!
HEAT it destroys anything and everything. so every time you turn on or power up a device it is going to heat up! You may suddenly lose your battery or your audio or something else. The components on the inside get trapped in all that heat, it could be something else but it should be your first question to ask the technician handling your case. A desktop cpu can heat up to an astonishing 750*+ which will not only the melt the motherboard but will most certainly burn down anything and everything! Like a House! Now add in or compensate the heat from all the other items that are also causing heat, the gpu, any drives, etc..
People are buying more devices lately and yet the most common reason is because they break, or can’t upgrade them. Now with that being said, Do you still think that buying some else’s used hardware will help? A possible answer from the seller would be (if asked why selling) they wanted to upgrade the cpu in their machine/ devices, which is why? hmmm possibly, possibly not, possibly heat probs? possibilities are there.
Last Thing, with so many “buy now pay later” deals like Affirm and Klarma you can use these loaners to buy what you need and make payments. I have used Affirm only thing with companies or services like this it’s common to be a higher interest rate so check that out before signing it if you go that route.
Well after reading this I do hope i gave you a good answer but even a better understanding of what your up against! especially if you’re getting advice on what your trying to pay out to get fixed! {and they say oh yes that’s fixable. ~ It could also be a advantage that someone is looking for ( the seller!)
Be Careful, Be Safe, and Be Smart~
Good Luck,

Thanks for the read, that’s My 2sense…and I’m just sayin ~
