Tecra 8100 won't start

I have purchased a new battery for this older laptop and I can see the light on when charging but nothing happens when pushing the power button.

I want to access the data on the hard drive. I have pulled it out of its slot. This is not the typical usb adapter kit. There are no pins and this is a female connector on the drive itself. What type of usb adapter is used to connect this to my desktop?

The female connector on you see on the hard drive is removable. It is only used to connect to the Motherboard on your model laptop. Gently pry the connector at each side to remove it and reveal the pins your looking for.

Once the adapter is removed, you will need an IDE to USB adapter kit...NOT sata/usb ...

Thanks. I have unscrewed the outer casing and pryed it out of the case. Removed conenctor and I'm now using an adapter. Amazing! This is my old computer for early to mid 2000s!
