Any information on the directory for cell phones?
You will have your cellphone number listed in a national database.
I called Sprint and they didn't know about it.

Keep you eyes and ears on this. Verizon is possibily not going to let
its subcrribers numbers out of their possession.

Supposedly, those with existing accounts must "opt-in" in order to be
listed.

For new accounts, it's up to the service provider to decide what to do.

If they decide to operate like a landline company, they will charge you
to NOT be listed -- which always seemed like a protection racket to me
(i.e., gimme some extra money every month, or I'll expose your personal
information to the world, whether you like it or not)!

We can HOPE that SPCS does the right thing. And it would probably
behoove us to let them know how we feel about things. It could impact
us -- they could decide that we have a "new account" if we change plans
or change phones or renew a contract...

Management just released an internal news item on it. You can find
our privacy policy, part of the Terms&Conditions, at:

http://www.sprintpcs.com/common/popups/popLegalTermsPrivacy.html#6

It's actually #7, and says, as far as disclosure:

-+-
DISCLOSURE TO THIRD PARTIES

Sprint will not sell or disclose to outside parties any personally
identifiable information obtained from a Sprint online service or the
registration at a Sprint Site without your consent except under the
following circumstances:

+ When required by law,
+ When disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of a customer,
third party or Sprint's property,
+ If it is required in connection with any sale or transfer of all or
a portion of Sprint's assets.

When Sprint uses agents, contractors or other companies to perform
services on its behalf, Sprint will require that they protect your
personally identifiable information consistent with this Privacy
Policy. Sprint may share the anonymous information described in this
Privacy Policy with third parties from time-to-time.
-+-

We haven't yet decided if we'll be a participant in the directory,
assuming it ever materializes. But we also will not release
names/numbers to it without express consent to do so.
