Temu exploded out of nowhere to become a mega online store — but should you trust it?

Just a correction on one of your implications. Temu has free returns, which includes shipping costs. For low cost items, they will often do no return refunds too (which may be good or bad, as then you have to figure out what to do with it, but you got your money back).

With the quality of Amazon taking a five over the last few years and trouble returning things (a lot more trouble than TeMu), I have found that cheaper generic items are better from TeMu (and branded items are probably better from the supplier, where responsibility can't be shifted around and the people earning the money are the ones provided the product).

And as far as getting those unbranded or off brand things goes, I have actually done quite well on temu. If you actually start looking for something different than Amazon instead of the same but cheaper, there's quite a lot that you really couldn't find on "americanized" shopping sites.

I'm not saying TeMu is great. I have had things arrive broken, smelling strongly and unpleasantly of plastic processing, clothes that had pockets rip in a few wears and lots of things that were certainly not ever going to look as good as in the shop image photoshopped onto some huge buff model... but
there is also a consideration of what the alternatives are. Not everything is available from local charity thrift shops, and at some point at least a certain class of items makes more sense to get on TeMu, where you can at least pretty easily get an "item didn't match description" refund.

I can only speak from my personal experience but I have done a lot of shopping & never have had any problems. Delivered on time or $5 credit when it's been a day or two late. Regular updates on parcel tracking. Breakables have arrived intact & clothing items true to size & good quality. I haven't needed to return any items so I can't comment on that.
I admit it is annoying being bombarded with emails but that's what a delete button is for!
Being elderly, it's a challenge to go out to shop & the money saved on Temu purchases is most welcome when living on a pension. Maybe I just choose the right items or have been lucky but thank you Temu!!

I agree with silver threads. I have ordered many times. Only once was the parcel lost. I was fully credited, and they advised that if it turned up I could keep it. It did turn up too. Twice things were broken, but that was glass and that was probably a stupid thing to order online. Its interesting to read all these defamatory comments about temu but if it was so bad, it would be shut down wouldn't it. So their sales are increasing so it can't be that bad. How many if you have visited a "junk" shop with cheap items. I know I have. Where do they get their stuff? Why aren't we having a go at them? I think the whole thing comes down to tall poppy syndrome. They're doing well so everyone has to drag them down. The general quality of my stuff is better than average. If you're a savvy shopper you do your homework. Seems stupid to complain about something when you should have investigated it further. I really look forward to receiving my packages. I reckon they're great!!

I'd say 99% of the stuff I've gotten from temu is awesome. A lot of the items you see on Amazon are exactly the same as what you get on temu but it's a lot more expensive. I haven't ordered any electronics nor do I trust any of the hair/body products but outside of that temu supplies mostly quality products. I've saved a ton of money on kids clothes in particular. You can't beat a 15 pack of leggings for $14.
