Wasted money. All of this.

Anybody can still bring down any plane by buying an airport employee. A false sense of security is not worth a cent.

So then all that means is that airport employees must be properly screened and scanned before they go onto planes as well? Like they do?

Problem solved :-D

Why not just make the final step towards what the moron terrorists want?
Make a machine who will fry everyone who which to board a plane or boat or train!
In my point of view the terrorists have already won - common fear, huge expensives for security and total annoyance and suspicion for anyone everywhere anytime.
sic..

"Those who sacrifice a little liberty for a little security deserve neither and lose both"

-Benjamin Franklin

I'd recommend the Americans look at the Constitution of the United States from time to time, not to forget how USA was founded and on what values it was founded.

Security can be improved against terrorists only by removing their motives to blow themselves up. If you have people with motive to blow themselves up, you'll see that they'll find a way to workaround the security measures put forward.

Anyone can be bought for a price. A long-time employee could be notified that they are being fired after decades of service (just short of full pension possibly), someone happens to fall into deep depression or become suddenly mentally-unstable, a change in faith has that employee believing the country they live in is pure evil, an employee just lost someone close to them and sees no point in living anymore, etc.

Too many variables that we cannot control. If scanners are inevitable, then this is what I would rather see for peace of mind that someone isn't starring at you like you're on a B&W pornographic picture. Anytime humans are involved, there will be human error/malfunction to go along with it. We can try our best to keep the innocent ones safe, but the rest will always find a way......

Only guys with small penises would care anyways - get over it! I am certain that you'd rather have your body scanned at the airport than your carcass being scanned in order to identify you after a terrorist attack. People are so narrow minded but their perspective changes in a heartbeat when they're standing hand in hand with death...

So now everyone is making a big deal about their privacy being violated. BUT, just right after Sept 11, everyone was screaming we didn't do enough. Back then, people would even volunteer to go through airport security NAKED just to be safe. My my ....how we have forgotten! Human nature I guess.

You people are absolutely ridiculous. Look at what this scanner does; there is no image even show. All it does it identify is someone is carrying potentially dangerous materials. How exactly is that any kind of attack on your rights or privacy? Oh no, they're taking away your right to carry a bomb or a gun onto a plane. Oh...wait...

There is no liberty, NONE at all, being sacrificed here. The biggest sacrifice is a little bit of time waiting to get onto the plane. If you don't consider extra safety worth that, then, well, maybe they should have special "paranoid libertarian" flights that don't require passengers to go through scanners. The rest of us can have the extra security at no cost to ourselves.

And all of you saying that it's still possible to bring down a plane, you're absolutely right. No security is absolute. However, if making it more difficult on terrorists means that over the next decade, we have one or two incidents of terrorism, instead of a dozen, then those lives saved are more than worth it.

Get over yourselves.

the point being, that this technology is already obsolete. Rapports says, that muslims terrorist now put their dynamit up their a$$ and that can the current scanners NOT catch. Maybe you are willing to get a whole hand up between your cheeks just to be allowed entering a plane, but it is not my cup of tea..

Its really shouldn't be about human rights or liberties. I wouldn't care about any of the scans unless of course I had just taken a swim and there was "shrinkage".

Seriously though, the real question is is all this investment going to protect us from a similar attack? I saw a program that they brought some powder and tucked it in there underware and the technition for the 3d scanner didn't spot it. The representative for the company said that the technition of course isn't trained like the TSA and that the TSA guys/girls would easily know what to look for..... Who do you think trains the TSA? The technitions from the manufacturer are the one who train them... Duhhhhh.

Also, isn't it kinda weird that these guys jumped right in after the attack.

To be honest, it would probably be cheaper and more effective if they had special rooms were you strip down and they give you a quick check (we strip at the doctors office don't we?) and all luggage is sealed and everyone is given disposable clothing (or washable) like scrubs. That would be the most effective way. The only thing you would have to worried about then is a TSA employee assisted plot.
