Looking at the feather images in PS, the Nikon one is 2 Mp versus 1.2
Mp; it is thus not surprising that it shows slightly better resolution.
It also has the appearance of having some of sharpening applied compared
with the Canon one.

Without some more data it is difficult to know what significance this
has. Did you have a point to make?

Include details of this "test" or it is entirely meaningless.

Which lenses did you use?
Details about: tripod, mirror lockup, (in-camera) sharpening, JPEG
quality, ... ?
Assuming both are non-resized crops @ 100% zoom, what was the
magnification factor (or field of view) difference?
