Galaxy S2 problem, please help! The comp doesn't recognize the galaxy 2 when I plug it with a USB, also it keeps on turning on and off on its own. thanks,
That is very likely a hardware problem. Issue with troubleshooting this is that you would need to wipe it and set it to factory default to see if that fixes it, which means internal memory will be erased. If you have files on the SD card, remove the card then do a factory reset on the device. If that does not work or if you really don't want to lose any files from it if you never backed them up, you'd need to bring it in to be looked at by your service provider. For an S2 it may be cheaper to just replace it than try to get it repaired.

Thank you for the response.
I already bought a new HTC phone. However, I have very meaningful pictures on that phone with my loving father who passed away last year.
Is there any way I can retrieve those pictures saved on the phone without losing them?

If it's on the internal memory, phone has to be detected or at least be stable so you can copy the pictures over the network. Which means getting it to a phone repair expert to look at. Make sure you do backups of your new phone and/or save the files to cloud storage, then there are no worries if the phone dies.
