The movies on My Seagate hard drive can't be open on my tv

I've been using my Seagate hard drive for watching movies and whenever I want to watch movies I just connect it to the tv, which is I always do. But this time I can connect it in the tv but it cant read the movies. How am I supposed to fixed this?
