The new 192 GB SSD on Thinkpad 260

Hey all, a quick question:

Is the 192 GB SSD SATA drive self encrypting? And if not, is this a key factor which would mean choosing the more expensive 256 SSD OPal instead?

Any advice / feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend trusting self-encrypting drives. They've repeatedly been shown to have dumb design flaws like using the same encryption key on every drive, and similar rubbish.

Use a proper, audited, full-drive encryption tool.

There is also an issue, at least for some people, that encryption baked into a product can make it less flexible in use. For example using an encrypted USB stick to create a boot disk from. Can't do it.
