the sound isn't going to the headphones when they are plugged in how do I fix it?

Depending on what version of windows you are running.
Follow these steps to get sound to the headphones.
The headphones must be for use with a Pc, large headphones used for phones will not work properly when plugged into the pc because in most cases they are wired differently and the jack on the end differs.
On windows desktop right click on the speaker icon next to the time.
Select playback devices.
From the window presented scroll down it, to the headphones.
Right click on headphones.
And select set as default playback device.
To set the sound back to playing on desktop speaker ect.
Do the same sequence, selecting the device as the default play back device.
And clicking ok, or apply in the window box.
You should then get sound from your headphones if they are standard 2.1 left and right headphones.
