(i have thermal re pasted it properly from a youtube vid), also max core are fluctuating a bit more than before. any help would be appreciated.

Adarsh,
I can only comment, different thermal pastes will be different, thickness of paste will change properties, uneven paste will cool differently. Was all old paste was removed completely, is fan seated properly and tight, have RPM's changed at all?

I have used mx4. The old paste was removed completely with isopropyl alcohol. Fan rpm is a bit high on idle than before.

Adarsh,
85c is max spec for my card so if your running full out should be no problem.
I wouldn't worry about idle temps since they are low. Just keep an eye on everything. Strange tho that fan is faster with temps higher.
The temp your reading, is it the Motherboard temp or a core temp?
