Thiele-small parameters: published vs. tested?

Hello,

Any advice on optimizing a cabinet design when the TS parameters vary between the mfr's spec sheet and someone else's test results (such as zaphaudio)? Should I assume that Zaph's results are more typical than the mfr's claims? I know the ideal would be for me to measure my particular drivers before designing the cabinet but I don't have the equipment to do that. For some drivers, such as the Tang Band W3-1364SA, the differences in optimal cabinets (and predicted bass response in the alternate cabinet) are very substantial.

Sure you have the equipment to measure and calculate TS parameters. All you need is a PC, a multimeter and some AF oscillator software. It would be best to take measurements after some burn-in of the drives.
