Think my Hard-Drive is Failing, what should I do?

The past week my laptop has not been able to load anything, I have been stuck on the loading windows screen. I tried reinstalling W7 and I have tried the system repair but both lead to my laptop not loading, it just stays on "Setup is starting". It sounds like a problem with my Hard Drive, and I'm not sure how to go about replacing this.

Is it possible to replace the hard drive and if so what size hard drive would I need?

Standard 2.5inch sata 3 drive mate (or a ssd if budget allows)

As little as possible really, I will be building a PC later on this year so I just need this laptop for a few more months
