Thinking of maybe getting a better DSLR

Hi

I currently have a Canon 450D with a Canon 50mm lens and Sigma 105mm Macro Lens.

You can see my favourite pictures and other ones here: https://www.instagram.com/wayfall/?hl=en

I was just wondering if there was a better Canon DSLR i could get in the future that would enable me to take more cleaner pictures but also be able to do night photos as i currently have to use 1600iso and the quality isn't nice due to the noise. Would i need higher megapixels or pixel size or camera with a larger sensor?

I was thinking this one maybe?:

i'm on a 550D and came from a 400D, the difference was massive, much better noise at high ISO, much better managing of reds.

You might also want to consider a Image stabilised lens as well. Although for night, you need a wide open aperture, a long exposure time (Tripod) and good noise at high iso.

Your images are good without a better body (I was going to say get the images right first, but you've done that).

IS lens will help more with that, faster lenses (lower F stop number) will also help remove the need to go to higher ISO, but even 1600 is not high at all, the 450 might not be great at that level, but don't be concerned about 200.

Are you shooting raw and then developing use lightroom or the canon App?

No i shoot in RAW and print them out when i want to but i have to convert them to JPEG if i want to upload some to Instagram.

What lens would you recommend i get for general use that will make my images look some what cleaner? I was thinking a better 50mm or go for a 35mm.

And please remember how the Canon numbering scheme works, 1 digits > 2digits >3 digits > 4digits, so the 1300D whilst newer may not be better than the 450D, you should be aiming for another NNN model, or an NN model.

I got my 1.4 for basically 1/2 price from BHpv
Normally $600, it was $320 'gently used'.

As I recently remarked to another member who was convinced he needed a new camera:
"$20,000 of equipment in the wrong hands will still make crappy pics.
$500 of equipment in the right hands can end up in an art gallery"

(or words to that effect)

..... yes i know 18.-55 is the focal lengths and the 1.8 is the F-stop and so the low the number the bigger the lens can open to allow light in. Also no mine is a fixed focal of 50mm and can go as open as 1.8

So you've already got the 'nifty fifty', there is a 1.4, but it's around £400. I would be less concerned about noise than you are. The images that you see without noise are heavily processed and probably very well lit.
