Thoughts on the Astro A40?

I'm getting a new pair of headphones in a few days to replace my oldish Sony Pulse Stereo headphones. I have around $200 to spend and I was wondering if the Astro A40s were good ones to get.

I don't really care whether or not they are wired/wireless as I sit less than half a metre away from my computer, so that's not an issue. Is the sound quality as good as or better than Sony's headphones and is the mic actually good quality? Are there any others I could get instead?

I'm buying a pair on Wednesday which is in 3 days, so I was wondering if it was a good choice.

if you could find the 2011 version, I'd say go for it no hesitation. they did, however, change the mixamp hw and the 2013/2014 version isn't as good unfortunately. still a good headset, but if you're looking in the $100-$200 range, I'd go with either audio technica or sennheiser.

the ATH-M50 + clip-on zalman mic is always a great combo for enthusiasts

also the senn pc 350 and 360s have dropped significantly in price too. both are good options as well
