Hi everyone. I am the current owner of an Alienware M17x R4 and am looking to possibly upgrade my laptop. I've looked into several but one I've liked from the beginning is the ASUS G750JM. I'm wondering if upgrading to this laptop would be worth the costs? I can sell my Alienware in my area for about 1000 and the G750JM is about 1350 with tax. I would save my SSD and my RAM from the Alienware and put it into the G750JM to match those specs, but the true question is, is the upgrade to the CPU and GPU be worth the extra 350 bucks?

The Alienware currently houses a:

Intel i7-3630QM CPU
Nvidia GTX 675M

The G750JM would house a:

Intel i7-4700HQ CPU
Nvidia GTX 860M

I would transfer over my 24 GB of RAM to make 32 GB on the Asus and move my 512 GB SSD over as well.

I know when it comes to battery life, gaming laptops are "LOLWUT" but does the ASUS have a decent laptop battery that'll last long enough for some YouTube video surfing and social meda expereiencing? I'd never game without it on the charger since I know it can throttle the CPU and GPU considerably. But overall, is it worth the upgrade?

Thanks a lot!

If your talking $400 out of pocket, yes I would do it. But anything more than that, its not so much upgrade, its more for newer. Newer battery, newer keyboard, ect. But that said, I have the asus g750 js model, and I love every aspect of this thing. Powerful, great keyboard, great cooling, awesome screen, big/heavy but if good backpack no traveling issues, battery 4-5 hours easy on normal/light/medium tasks.
