I was surprised not to see the Channel Master DVR mentioned here, particularly as it is the closest thing to TiVo in functionality and experience. But without the subscription fee or contract. It's also a lot smaller than the TiVo box and comes with our without a 1TB internal hard drive. Tablo and Simple are much more for viewing on tablets. TiVo and Channel Master are the real TV experience if you're going to cut the cord.
