toshiba 46ux600u Digital audio jack( toshlik)

I’m trying to figure out how to hook up my wireless headphones to my toshiba tv. I purchased a digital to analog converter plugged it into the Digital audio output jack (toshlink) and only buzzing out of the headphones. Rechecked all my connections all seem to be installed properly.
Went into the menu on the TV to try to turn on the toshlink , could not find any speaker programs that would let me go to external. On the output cable the light at the end of the cable does light up red. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think page 62 tells you how to set the optical out to PCM. That should get it working. There is also mention of an sound menu.
As usual the manual is a pain to use but the info is in there somewhere.
