Last year I read a post explaining how to identify laptops built by
Toshiba rather than ? I'm looking for a new unit and would like one as
reliable as my current Satellite.

Thanks,

Last year's Toshiba is not this year's Toshiba. Toshiba is accelerating
its laptop manufacturing by OEM's in response to the realization that
their laptop business is in a death spiral, financially. Only their
high-end laptops are being/will be made in Toshiba factories with
Toshiba designs, whatever their high-end is these days. Perhaps someone
with specific, current Toshiba manufacturing knowledge can offer some
additional information. In any event, the "19.5 volt AC adapter is
Compal" is probably not a reliable indicator today.

High-end equates to Tecra, Sat Pro and Portege. However, not all of those
are Toshiba Built any more. Definitely some of those are built by Inventec.

Actually, so far anyway, the "19 volt adapter = Compal", is still true.
It's the "15 volt = Toshiba" that is no longer a reliable indicator.
