I am in the possession of a Toshiba Tecra A3X with a Windows XP Desktop. My problems are twofold:

1) Internet.

My laptop will intermittently shuffle through all wifi networks even though I do have a preferred network preset. Not only that, but each time it connects to the preferred network, the DNS probe still isn't able to connect to the Internet.

2) Sound.

So I recently had no sound before I reset the system. Now I do have sound, but it is extremely quiet even though the volumes are turned up to the max. I'm not exactly sure if I can hear the speakers, but with the headphones it's like they're whispering.

Please help.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to uninstall/reinstall the drivers. (Wifi first then Sound Card)
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the wifi adapter.
- Once uninstalled, reboot your laptop and it should reinstall the driver automatically.
- After the reboot do test it again and see if it will work or not.
- Next is the Sound card driver, go to Device Manager again and uninstall/reinstall the Sound Card driver.
- If these method will not work proceed with System Restore. Restore the laptop to an earlier date or time when it was working properly.

- If all these will not work last option would be to reinstall Windows.

That's a pretty old system so you could just be looking at failing hardware. Did you check on Toshiba's support site for updated drivers?
