toshiba Laptop shuts off when AC adapter plugged in, with battery its run absolutely normal

Hello there,
my problem is: with toshiba L350D Laptop, shuts off when AC adapter plugged in, with adapter the lights are all on but its not booting up,
when I take off AC plugged its boot normal. out I am thinking if the mainboard is damage how comes its runs absolutely fine with battery??????????

I'd suspect there is an issue with the power jack on the laptop (a short there would cause that) or possibly a problem with the power adapter itself
