Toshiba Satellite C55-A5282 Screen Is Very Dim

My Toshiba Satellite C55-A5282 is 1 month out of warranty and the screen has gone VERY dim - almost like the back light isn't working. The machine will "boot up" and you can see very dim images on the screen if you view it from an angle high above the screen. Directly facing the screen, it looks blank. I connected an external monitor and the external screen works fine. I also tried unplugging the cord, removing the battery and holding down the power button for 60 seconds but it didn't help. I removed the RAM cards, cleaned the connections and reinstalled with no luck. All drivers are up to date. Does anyone have any other ideas?

have you tried increasing brightness on the keyboard? If that doesn't work looks like you need a new screen 48 to 62 dollars on ebay
