Did you remember that there is a Function key on the top row that has to be tapped to swap screens from internal to external? Sometimes, they need to be accompanied by the Fn key to the left of your spacebar.

You should start with exact model number, why you think it's the screen, and your location.
If the screen is not working - does the OS boot?

On the subject of the replacement screen, put the make and model into an eBay search (adding "screen") and take your choice. If you intend swapping it yourself, post back for some more details.
