Wondering if anyone can advise on how to open up a Toshiba Satellite C850D-11F so that I can access the motherboard as I need to repair the DC power socket.

It seems to be a fairly new laptop or not as popular as the other models as I can't find much on the net, no service manuals. Videos for other satellite models seem to use a different procedure from this one, mainly a peice of removable plastic around the keyboard which reveals clips or screws.

I've tried to remove the keyboard by prising it out, but it's staying put. The plastic surrounding around keyboard appears to be moulded and part of the whole enclosure, no parts will break off to reveal screws etc. Underneath there are some small plastic tabs that when pushed in releases part of the enclosure but it is restricted as something from the keyboard area is keeping it together.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, this is not really helpful, the manual does not cover dissasembly.

The DC socket likely got damaged when the DC jack got snapped in two whilst still plugged in, so the waranty will not cover it as it was user mishandling.
