Toshiba Satellite C855 won't start up properly

Hi, My daughters both have a Toshiba Satellite C855 since about 1,5 years.
Lately, \i guess since a couple of months they both have starting up problems.
\the light is on, no problem but if you hit the power on button, nothing happens.
When I take out the adapter plug and remove the battery for a couple of seconds and put it back again it starts up...
So, that went on for a couple of weeks now but unfortunately that little trick does not seem to work anymore on one of the laptops, so I'm really puzzled now!
Does anyone have an idea/experience about what this could be?

did you try with the ac only or the battery if system is not charging the battery it could be short on the power part on the board or dead battery or charger .

Thanks for your reply, it has been solved... It seemed my daughters were repeatingly leaning on the laptop and that seemed to cause this issue strange enough. Now I've told them to be nice to their Laptop and don't use it as a table to rest your arms on
